We had the great pleasure of welcoming Prof. Dr. Enrico Schleiff, President of Goethe University Frankfurt, for a thought-provoking talk on "Goethe University as an Engine of Transformation."
Prof. Schleiff brought a remarkable academic journey to the conversation — from studying physics and biophysics in Prague, Mainz, and Basel, to earning his doctorate in biochemistry in Montreal and completing his habilitation at LMU Munich. Since 2007, he has held the W3 Professorship for Molecular Plant Cell Biology at Goethe University. He chaired the Board of the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (2018–2020); and since 2021 he has served as President of Goethe University.
It was a privilege to hear his vision for how the university can drive transformation — in research, in society, and in the next generation of talent.
A special thank you to Prof. Dr. Christoph Schalast for generously hosting us in his offices and creating such a welcoming setting for the evening.
