Donation Drive Harvard Scholarship Foundation
The Harvard Scholarship Foundation Germany is committed to giving gifted students -also from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds- the opportunity to get to know Harvard University,
so that they can develop a vision of what is possible in their lives.
For this purpose, the Road to Harvard project was created.
In 2022 the Foundation held the Road to Harvard Essay Competition for the third time.
The top three participants will have the opportunity to win a 2-week Pre -College Program at Harvard Summer School 2023.
460 schools nationwide were contacted and the best students were asked to write an essay on the topic: NATO Eastward Expansion - Blessing or Curse? and a motivational letter.
From around 80 entries, 22 finalists were invited to the finals in Berlin for an interview day by 8 Harvard alumni.
Afterwards the students told us that the chance of talking to Harvard alumni in challenging interviews and the group experience was worth it even if they were not among the winners.
Also for the alumni who supported as lectors or interviewers it was an enrichment to get to know these young talented people and to learn about their various engagements.
Some of them are studying law or chemistry at German universities parallel to school, others are learning Japanese on their own, are involved in the municipal parliament, participate in scientific competitions or are a member of the swimming state cadre of Bavaria.
The jury members were so enthusiastic about the candidates that two jury members spontaneously sponsored a fourth place, so that another finalist can apply for the Harvard Summer School 2023.
